Sara
Alemán, Ph.D., MSW, received her doctorate from Brandeis University
and has taught at both Arizona State University and Northern Arizona
University where her area of research is the aging population. She has
also been a patient volunteer with Northland Hospice. Her loss
experiences include death of siblings, death of parents, feelings of
safety, divorce, and jobs. Her publications include two books and
numerous articles. Spiritual health is also an important aspect of her
work.
Rebecca
Durrenberger, B.Ed., teacher, photographer and writer, brings a
variety of loss experiences to this seminar. These include
divorce, loss of job, deaths of parents and friends, and the murder of a
son. She has found love and compassion not only in friends and
family, but also in nature. By using nature photography to help in
her own healing process, she has set her photographs to text and music.
She hopes that her video creation And The World Stood Still
will provide healing as well as reflection.
